The World Wide Web, the name says it all. Can you imagine the world without Internet? Web is an aggregate of interlinked hypertexts. These are accessed through internet. This article is about the main people that were involved in the creation of World Wide Web. By using a web browser you can view the WebPages in internet. The word internet and World Wide Web are now commonly used by people around the world. Many of them confuse the words and thinks that both are same, that’s not true. Several interconnected networks form the internet and one of the services that work on internet is web. Web is an application that provides service to people depending on internet. The people who have contributed their work and life for web are the following
- Tim Berners-Lee
He is the inventor of the World Wide Web. Lee and his team framed the web browser for the first time. The first server was World Wide Web and the language used was Hyper Text Markup Language. World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which checks the development of the web was founded by him and he is the director of it.
- Marc Andreessen
The first widely used web browser is Mosaic. Marc Anderson is the co author of Mosaic and also the co founder of Netscape communication. It has given products like Netscape’s flagship and Netscape Navigator. His product is the basis of Mozilla browser.
- Brian Behlendorf
Apache Web Server was his contribution and he was a founding smember of the Apache Group. He was the webmaster for Wired Magazines’s HotWired web site.
- Rasmus Lerdorf, Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski
They developed PHP in the year 1995. Now also it is mostly used for creating dynamic web pages. In 1997 PHP was extended by the works of Gutmans and Suraski .
- Brad Fitzpatrick
LiveJournal was created by him. He is the author of memcached and the original authentication protocol for OpenID. Memcached is used by Wikipedia, Flickr , Facebook, WordPress, Twitter , Craigslist.
